SoundZone ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use the SoundZone mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
Anonymous User ID
SoundZone generates a random anonymous identifier for your device when you first open the app. This ID is generated locally and is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information.
Display Name
You may optionally enter a display name that is visible to others in your voice rooms. This name is stored locally on your device and transmitted to our servers only while you are in an active voice room.
Voice Audio
When you participate in a voice room, your microphone audio is transmitted in real time to other participants in the same room. We do not record, store, or retain any voice audio.
Contacts
SoundZone may request access to your device contacts to allow you to invite friends. Contact data is used solely for this purpose and is not stored on our servers.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To enable real-time voice communication between users in the same room
- To display your chosen name to other participants
- To send push notifications for room invitations and activity (with your permission)
- To maintain app functionality and improve performance
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not share your personal information with advertisers. Voice audio is transmitted in real time via LiveKit, a third-party real-time communication platform. Please review LiveKit's privacy policy for information about how they handle audio data. No other data is shared with third parties except as necessary to operate the service.
5. Data Retention
Voice audio is never stored. Anonymous user identifiers and display names associated with room activity are retained only as long as necessary to provide the service. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
6. Children's Privacy
SoundZone is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
7. Permissions
SoundZone requires the following device permissions:
- Microphone — required for voice chat
- Notifications — required for room invitations and activity alerts
- Contacts — optional, used only for sending invitations
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Voice audio is transmitted using encrypted real-time communication protocols.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
